a rock and a soft place

i was thinking about fixing the wall that will someday have a salvaged mantle (literally saved from the jaws of a garbage truck last summer).

then i stumbled upon this today:

not so crazy about the pieces of wood, but... those river rocks... so quietly beautiful.
